•  Part of five person team to complete the contract phase for QCI Community Forest Pilot Agreement with MOF.

Xeni Gwet'in First Nation

Nemiah, B.C.

•  Evaluation of economic feasibility for a Community Forest Pilot Agreement
•  Economic opportunity analysis in the value-added wood products sector.
•  Portable sawmill in the community has received broad community support and awaiting funding approval.

Stó:lo Nation

(1998 – 1999)

•  Prepared response for the community forest pilot agreement submission in January 1999, including a preliminary management plan and a complete business plan.
•  Not selected by MoF but is now part of ongoing discussions as an Interim Measures Agreement on Forestry.

Nuxalk Nation

(1998 – 1999)

•  Prepared response for the community forest pilot agreement submission in January 1999, including a preliminary management plan and a complete business plan.
•  Proposal was accepted by MOF and is one of 10 CF pilot agreements in BC.

Island Community Stability Initiative, Queen Charlotte Islands

(1998)

 

•  Community forest feasibility study for the Haida Gwaii/Queen Charlotte Islands.

•  Led to the successful awarding of a Community Forest Pilot Agreement, in November 2000, subject to the agreement of terms and conditions by MOF.

•  Part of team working on this phase, see Raincoast Management above.

Regional District of Mount Waddington , Port McNeill, B.C.

(1996)

•  Led project team for the Malcolm Island Community Forest Tenure Feasibility Study, and prepared recommendations.

•  Utilized innovative public consultation in the process.

•  Discussion on CF continues on Malcolm Island
