•  Prepare Timber Permits for Matsqui Main IR # 2 and Matsqui Island IR #3 while training one community member in all phases of preparation.
•  Prepare feasibility study for purchase of portable sawmill and dry kiln for big leaf maple.

JV with Kwikwetlem First Nation

•  Prepare Timber Permit and cost estimates for harvesting and land clearing a portion of IR # 3 for conversion to subdivision.
•  Involve summer students in field data collection phase.

Seabird Island First Nation

(2002)

•  Manage the planting of Reserve lands with hybrid poplar.
•  Use the opportunity to involve high schools students in the planting.

Soowahlie First Nation

(April-May 2002)

•  Continue to increase capacity of community members with Sto:lo Nation HRDC funding for training in ecological and silviculture assessments, timber cruising and logging plan preparation.
•  Lead to completion of Timber Permit for harvesting deciduous forest on Reserve lands.

Matsqui First Nation

•  Training of five Band members to complete site rehabilitation on Matsqui Island .
•  Prepare feasibility study for bio solids application on Matsqui Island .
